Entry Level Course
The Entry Level Match Official Clinic is for those who would like to become an accredited match official on 9 v 9 and 11 v 11 games and are 14 years of age (by the 31st of March) and older.
Small Sided Game Course
The Small Sided Game Course is for those who would like to become an accredited match official on 7 v 7 games and are 12 years of age (by March 31st) and older.
Course accreditation is valid permanently, no re-accreditation on Small Sided Game (7 v 7) currently required, however you must register with Ontario Soccer each year.

2025 Season
Canada Soccer has now integrated Referee Education, specifically the Entry-Level Match Official course, within their online learning management system. The updated course content will better prepare Match Officials as they start their referring journeys as well as an overall improvement to accessibility for the broader community.
The first component is to complete an asynchronous online Entry-Level course through the Smarter U platform and is available in English and French. The training takes approximately five (5) hours and is recognized with a certificate of completion. The fee for 2025 to take this component of the course will be $30.00 and this is payable directly to Canada Soccer.
The second component of the Entry-Level course will be a full-day, in-person course which Ontario Soccer will be moving to a Member-Club and District-hosting model.
Utilizing a Club and District-focused approach will allow for greater involvement of local leadership in the recruitment process and help build stronger relationships between Match Officials and other stakeholders. With greater connections locally, referees can receive support more often and earlier in their officiating career.
Ontario Soccer's Small-Sided course will also move to a Member-hosting model.
Both courses are limited to 25 participants and include in-class and on-field elements for the full-day, in-person component.

Returning Referees-Annual Registration
Annual Match Official Registration opened on March 07, 2025. Once again this year, there is a discounted rate the earlier you register. Go go the link for details. Registration fee information can be found on http://ontariosoccer.net/.
In addition if you have previously been a referee but have not registered since 2012 but wish to return you can do so by completing an exam on the current Laws of the Game. Details are also on the link above.
If you are a returning Entry Level Adult/Youth referee, or a Small Sided referee, please log into your Ref Centre account at http://www.refcenter.com/and complete the mandatory registration exam including any Laws of the Game changes. You will be able to register after you complete the exam and submit your payment.
If you are a small-sided referee and want to upgrade to be an entry level referee you need to register for and complete the entry level Referee course. Do not register as a small sided referee.
