Coach Requirements

To clarify Ontario Soccer and Canada Soccer's new coaching requirements for the 2023 season and for future seasons.

Ontario Provincial Police Criminal Reference Check with Vulnerable Sector Check:

  • In the past, Clubs would choose how to designate their coaches based on the competition level, age of players and risk.
  • With Canada's Safe Sport, all coaches must have a criminal reference check with vulnerable sector check.
  • Clubs can choose how many years between screening (every year, every two years, every three years etc.). The seasons that checks are not completed, it is best practice to have the coaches sign a form attesting that they have not had any new occurrences since their most recent official check.
  • OPP Criminal Reference Check with Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) are free to the public. They can be obtained from the following website under "Police Record Check": https://www.opp.ca/index.php?id
  • KDSC Club Vulnerable Sector Check letter can be located here. The Club Manager is required to sign the letter for each volunteer prior to the volunteer submission to the OPP: Vulnerable Sector Check Letter_2023.docx
  • Once results are obtained, please forward to the Club at  club@kemptvillesoccer.com

Ontario Soccer Courses

All coaches are to receive as much training as possible. Coaches are often responsible for the first initiation of the development of the young players within the Club. Long Term Player Development begins with the first kick of a soccer ball.
