Development Soccer (U9 to U12)
Development Soccer refers to the age group of U9 to U12, including both the District Development League (traveling team) players and the KDSC House League/Recreational players.
District Development League (Traveling) Team Players
The District Development League is is the Eastern Ontario Soccer League (EOSL) and is managed by the Eastern Ontario Soccer (EOS). Aligning with the Canada Soccer and Ontario Soccer Long Term Player Development Outdoor Matrix (current version) the primary focus is on an individuals' soccer skill development through practice situations over a structured game. The emphasis is to be on practice time over game situations and guidelines are to be of ratio 2:1 to 3:1 practices over games played per week.
Players who participate on a KDSC Development Team, on average, can expect to participate in at least 1-2 practices and in one game each week subject to the team and league schedules. Approximately half of the teams' games are played at "home" and the other half will be played "away." The amount of travel depends on what other clubs register teams in the division.
Please note other team/player fees could be incurred should the team decide to purchase track suits and/or sport bags. Teams may also register for weekend Festivals which would have to be covered by the parents and will involve further plans for traveling out of town.
Evaluations
Interested players wishing to play on a District Development League team must register for and attend the evaluation sessions held each spring (March/April).
Player training begins as soon as we are allowed access to local
Ottawa area Indoor Dome space, local School gymnasiums or the
Township-owned fields (April/May). The league division play begins in
the middle of May and league division ends late August to the first week of
September.
